Planning Your Event
Welcome to “Plated Catering” for the NYU Community! Our mission is to
provide you with exceptional quality, outstanding service, and a creative
culinary experience. Our onsite Catering Team is happy to assist you with
the planning of your event and can be contacted at 212-998-4690 Monday thru
Friday from 8:00 am. to 6:00 pm.
Overview:

For events under 100 guests, orders must be confirmed by our Catering
Team at least three (3) business days prior to the date of the event.

For events exceeding 100 guests, orders must be confirmed by our
Catering Team at least five (5) business days prior to the date of the
event.

All events are required to meet service minimums. For events that
generate less than the minimum number of guaranteed guests, the minimum
guest count will remain applicable.

Based on the nature of your event, additional fees may apply.
Cancellations:
For events under 100 guests, a notice of cancellation must be submitted in
writing at least three (3) business days prior to the day of the event. For
events exceeding 100 guests, a notice of cancellation must be submitted at
least five (5) business days prior to the day of the event. Events will be
charged in full if these cancelation deadlines are not honored. Special
consideration may be provided for weather related or natural disaster
driven cancellations.
Guest Counts:
For events under 100 guests, a guaranteed guest count must be received
three (3) business days prior to the event. For events exceeding100 guests,
the guaranteed guest count must be received five (5) business days prior to
the event.
Event Time:
Events are billed in four-hour increments. Events exceeding four hours may
be subject to additional service fees.
Green/Sustainable Campus:
Events will, depending upon building and function, include disposable and
compostable plates, cups and plastic ware. Upgraded disposables and china
are available upon request for an additional fee.
Dietary Preferences and Restrictions:
Plated Catering is happy to accommodate most dietary preferences and
allergy restrictions. However, if you are unsure or have any special
requests, please do not hesitate to contact the Catering Team at
212-998-4690.
Alcohol:
Plated Catering is committed to providing a healthy and safe event
environment. The following guidelines must be adhered to when organizing
and hosting any University event where alcohol is served:

Security will be made aware of all events where alcohol will be served.

Our TIPS certified service team will be responsible for ensuring any
guest consuming alcohol is of legal age.

All guests of legal age will receive a wristband indicating that they
are permitted to consume alcoholic beverages.

Plated Catering will provide wristbands for each age appropriate guest
which will be charged to the event.

Guests not wearing a wristband will not be served alcoholic beverages.

Plated Catering will staff each event to support bar service based on
the following guidelines:

One TIPS certified bartender will be provided for every 40 guests.
-
One TIPS certified Plated team member will be present for any event
over 40 guests for age verification.

Plated Catering will arrange for security personnel to support any
event where alcohol is served. One security guard per 100 guests will
be provided and charged to the event.

All alcohol must be purchased through and provided by Plated Catering.

No alcohol may be removed from the event space.

Alcoholic beverages can only be served in approved campus venues.
Linen:
Basic linen will be provided at no charge for all food and beverage
displays. Linen for seating tables, registration tables, or any other linen
needs or upgrades can be provided and will be charged to the event.
Service Staff:

Wait staff is charged at $62.50 per hour with a four (4) hour minimum
totaling $250 per staff member per four (4) time block. Each additional
hour will be charged at a rate of $50 per hour per team member.

Bartenders are charged at $75.00 per hour with a four (4) hour minimum
totaling $300 per staff member per four (4) hour time block. A TIPS
certified bartender is required for any event where alcohol is served.
Each additional hour will be charged at a rate of $65 per hour per team
member.
Tax Exemption:
All internal NYU events are considered to be tax exempt. External groups
not associated with NYU must provide a current certificate of Tax
Exemption.
